Engine light

Dear HJ, you make reference in your reply to IP, Solihull June 30, that ‘Any illuminated dash warning lights will now mean an mot failure.’

I have an engine management light on, due to possibly a faulty egr valve, which i have had blocked off for three years now.

The car drives great and isn’t worth much so I just want to leave it alone.
I have done quite a bit of research on this matter and as I understand it, this particular light is NOT included in the MOT test.

I have seen on the government website that many lights including ESP ABS tyre pressure ARE included but not the engine management light.

Am I wrong? If I am right could you point me to an official document that I could show the guy in the MOT station before he carries out the MOT, just in case he is inclined to fail the car.

Apparently the new MoT rules have been deferred. Were supposed to fully come into force in April, but that hasn't happened.
