How can I fix my faulty Polo?

My 2006 Volkswagen 1.4 diesel Polo has been causing me varying degrees of grief for the past six months, with the warning lights flashing up intermittently and the engine refusing to start. I am also having problems with the power steering, with the wheel locking coming on whilst driving.

The problems started off being intermittent, but are now happening every couple of days. I’ve taken the car to a number of garages, but none of them can fix the fault. What do you suggest I do?

Look in www.yell.com for a local "car electrical specialist". He might be able to locate the source of the problem that might be nothing more than a bad earth.
