Ford Focus 1.6 2009 - Engine Malfunction on dashboard - Delysher

Hi people

Needs some assistance.

In past two days warning lights were showing on the dashboard. (i.e ) brake skid light in orange light on (acceleration reduction showing ) red oil light showing while engine running..

This had happened on Wednesday, and Friday. However, lights went off when i restarted the engine.

Saturday morning the Car will not start at all and showing engine malfunction ?

Any ideas what might be the problem.

Assuming you've checked the oil level is ok.

I would get the battery checked. These Focuses seem to throw up all sorts of odd messages if the battery is weak.

Otherwise sounds like the immobiliser problem which is very common. Plenty of on-line companies offer a repair service if you send the dash cluster in. Easy DIY job.

www.fordinstrumentclusterrepair.co.uk/ is one I used. Other alternatives exist.

Does the red immobiliser light continue to flash with ignition switched on ?

Give the top of the dash , above the instrument pod , a thump with your hand to see if that reinstates functions .
