Bridgestone launches new Turanza 6 tyre

Bridgestone has launched the Bridgestone Turanza 6, ahead of the spring and summer holidays. The Bridgestone Turanza 6 has been designed to cater to the needs of drivers based on extensive research into the daily driving challenges they face.

The new premium tyre boasts superior mileage, improved fuel/energy efficiency and best-in-class wet performance. With safety and performance at the forefront of its design, the Bridgestone Turanza 6 has been created to fulfill the safety needs of motorists on long-distance journeys.

In line with the launch, Bridgestone has also issued seasonal advice ahead of any road trips planned over the bank holiday period. Motorists are being urged to ensure their tyres are free from bumps, cuts and bulges before they embark on journeys.

Furthermore, tyre tread depths must meet the legal requirement of at least 1.6mm. Failing to comply with this requirement could result in a hefty fine of up to £2500 and three penalty points per tyre.

Brett Emerson, Consumer Business Unit Director of Bridgestone North Region, highlighted the importance of regular tire checks to ensure safe driving. He advised motorists to check their tyres at least once a month by inserting a 20p coin into the main tire grooves at several places around the circumference of the tyre and across its width. If the outer band of the 20p coin is visible whenever the treads are checked, the tyres might be illegal and should be checked by a specialist.

Additionally, motorists should check their tire pressures against the manufacturer's recommended level, which can be found in the vehicle handbook and on a plate often located inside the fuel filler cap or on the driver's door sill.

Bridgestone has always been committed to supporting safe driving through its various initiatives and cutting-edge products. With the launch of the new Bridgestone Turanza 6, the company aims to bring enhanced safety and performance to drivers, enabling them to stay safe and in control, even on wet roads.

The Bridgestone Turanza 6 is available at all Bridgestone tyre dealerships and authorised distributors across the UK.

Can I change my tyres for a better ride?

My Toyota Auris has tyres that are 205/55/16. An option on the car is 195/65/15. I'm after a softer, quieter ride and I wondered if 'downgrading' to the 65 section tyres would be noticeable?
You can improve the ride on your Toyota by changing the aspect ratio of your tyres for something taller. You don't have to change the tyre width to do this - a quick look on blackcircles.com shows there is a decent choice of 205 16-inch tyres available with a 60 or 65 profile, which would help to improve the ride quality without having a narrower tyre which would slightly reduce the amount of grip available. It is also important to consider that this will also change the handling characteristics slightly, as the taller sidewall will deflect more during cornering. However, you may consider this a small price to pay for a better ride.
