The new Vauxhall Corsa is a facelifted and refreshed version of the best-selling small car in Britain. It gets a distinctive new front end that brings it in line with other Vauxhalls, plus a big boost in EV range for the new Vauxhall Corsa Electric.

The new Vauxhall Corsa will also later be offered in hybrid guise for the first time, using a 48V hybrid system. The popular turbo petrol engines continue too, with both manual and automatic gearboxes.

The new Vauxhall Corsa is a key player in the popular UK supermini sector. Although the Ford Fiesta is soon to cease production, other competitive alternatives include the Volkswagen Polo, Toyota Yaris, Peugeot 208, Renault Clio, Skoda Fabia and the value-priced Dacia Sandero.

There will also be a new Vauxhall Corsa Electric to compete with best-selling models such as the Renault Zoe and Peugeot e-208

2023 Vauxhall Corsa prices and release date

The new Vauxhall Corsa will open for ordering later in summer 2023. Prices for the new Vauxhall Corsa have not been announced. Prices for the current cars start from just over £19,000. The new Vauxhall Corsa is likely to still start from under £20,000.

As with today’s car, the new Vauxhall Corsa Electric will be significantly more expensive; expect prices to start from around £34,000.

The new Vauxhall Corsa will be released in UK dealers in late 2023. In the meantime, deliveries of the current Vauxhall Corsa will continue.

To help make things easier for those looking to buy or lease a new Vauxhall Corsa, the British firm says the trim line-up will be simple, making it less hard work to choose the right model.

2023 Vauxhall Corsa styling, interior and technology

The new Vauxhall Corsa gains a distinctive new look that makes it much more stylish and eye-catching. The key change is the addition of the Vauxhall Vizor at the front. This is a smooth, full-length black panel that sits between the standard LED headlights. It houses (and conceals) the various drive aids and safety sensors.

A restyled version of the Griffin logo sits in the centre of the new Vauxhall Corsa, which has a modern black finish. IntelliLux Pixel LED headlights are also available. These automatically cut the main beam from oncoming motorists, so drivers are not dazzled, and are a high-end feature normally seen on Audis and Mercedes-Benz.

The new Vauxhall Corsa is available with a fresh black styling pack too, which includes a black roof and smoked rear LED lights. A ‘Corsa’ script is spelled out on the rear hatchback, and there’s a cool shark fin antenna at the rear. Those buying or leasing a new Vauxhall Corsa can choose 17-inch alloys with black-effect detailing. Smart new metallic paint colours will also be offered.

The new Vauxhall Corsa has upgrades inside, too. The infotainment system has been completely refreshed. It is now based on a Qualcomm Snapdragon cockpit platform, which includes the use of artificial intelligence (AI). The new operating system includes crisper, easier to use menus and graphics.

Over-the-air updates are now a feature of the new Vauxhall Corsa. These allow the latest features and updates to be added without the owner having to visit a dealer. The system includes voice control with natural voice recognition, so commands can be made by saying ‘Hey Vauxhall’.

The new Vauxhall Corsa also offers an advanced Connected 3D Navigation sat nav system.

The new Vauxhall Corsa’s central infotainment touchscreen has been upgraded to 10.0-inches. A 7.0-inch driver display continues. This too has improved graphics. The new Vauxhall Corsa features standard Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, and a wireless smartphone charger is available for the first time.

Other smart technology in the new Vauxhall Corsa includes a high-resolution panoramic rear-view parking camera, plus adaptive cruise control with speed limiter and automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection.

The new Vauxhall Corsa also has a new design of steering wheel and an improved gearshift lever. There are new seat patterns and upholstery options too.

2023 Vauxhall Corsa motors, performance, fuel economy and electric range

The new Vauxhall Corsa will continue with a fuel-efficient 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine as its core powertrain. A range of power outputs will be offered, with popular choices including 100ps and 130ps variants. Expect five- or six-speed manual gearboxes, and an optional eight-speed automatic.

The new Vauxhall Corsa Electric receives a significant boost for 2023. An all-new 51kWh battery, which uses “next-generation” technology, is available. This is combined with an upgraded 156ps electric motor. It results in improved performance and a healthy extended range of 255 miles – 15% up on the current Vauxhall Corsa Electric.

The new Vauxhall Corsa Electric will remain available with today’s EV powertrain too, as a more affordable alternative. This uses an older 50kWh battery and a 136ps electric motor, for a range of up to 222 miles between charges.

All new Vauxhall Corsa Electric have an 11kW onboard charger as standard. Using a wallbox, charging from 0% to 100% takes just over five hours. 100kW rapid charging functionality is also included, delivering a 10%-80% charge in 30 minutes.

For those not yet ready to go electric, the new Vauxhall Corsa will be available for the first time with a hybrid powertrain. More details will follow, but Vauxhall has confirmed it will be a 48-volt system, with an extended ability to shut down the engine when on the move at slower speeds. This is likely to be combined with an automatic gearbox.

Why does the new Vauxhall Corsa Electric have two similar-sized batteries?

The new Vauxhall Corsa Electric is offered in two guises, 50kWh 136ps and 51kWh 156ps. The 51kWh battery uses the latest technology, so is more efficient, delivering a 255-mile range instead of the older battery’s 222-mile range. It’s a similar approach to Tesla, where some models have newer battery technology than others.

Can I still buy a petrol-engined new Vauxhall Corsa?

The new Vauxhall Corsa is still available with a 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine – and, later in the summer, a new hybrid petrol powertrain joins the range.
