MINI launches £40k John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition

MINI is launching a new limited edition MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition. Limited to just 999 units globally and restricted to 150 units in the UK, the MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition is priced at £39,600 on the road.

The 1to6 Edition gets its name from the standard six-speed manual transmission and stainless-steel pedals. Powered by a John Cooper Works four-cylinder petrol engine delivering 231PS, the 1to6 edition sprints from 0 to 62 mph in just 6.3 seconds.

Visually, the 1to6 Edition stands out with its Midnight Black Metallic paint finish and Piano Black exterior trim. It rides on Jet Black 18-inch Circuit Spoke alloy wheels and features Darkened Rear Glass for added style.

A centre-running Bonnet Stripe with a repeated manual transmission graphic, stretches the length of the vehicle. The exterior design is completed with bespoke 1to6 Edition badging.

Inside the cabin, the 1to6 Edition emblem can be found on the door sills, floor mats and etched into the lower spoke of the Nappa leather sports steering wheel.

Red accents add a sporty touch with leather stitching on the gear shift, ambient lighting and red on the glowing bezel surrounding the central instrument. The edition is completed with a special key cap featuring the 1to6 logo design.

The MINI John Cooper Works 1to6 Edition comes with heated front seats, electric folding door mirrors, a reversing camera and front and rear parking sensors.

Technology includes an 8.8-inch touch display featuring MINI Navigation and Apple CarPlay plus it has wireless charging, a head-up display, Harman Kardon surround sound and a digital dashboard.

What octane petrol should I use in my JCW MINI?

What octane petrol should I use in my John Cooper Works MINI? The handbook recommends Super Plus, with 98 RON. One of the leading supermarkets sell a 97 RON, which is significantly cheaper than the 98 or 99 RON Super Plus fuel available from the major oil companies - am I likely to experience any loss of power, or damage to the engine, in using cheaper supermarket fuel?
Supermarket fuel goes through the same testing and processing as the fuel in other outlets, although Shell, BP etc will make claims about their fuel being more efficient or better at clearing carbon deposits. Regarding the RON rating, you will not experience any damage to the engine but you might find Shell V-Power (the most highly regarded premium fuel) gives the engine a fraction more power than the 97 RON supermarket premium fuel. It'll be a very slight difference if at all, so we'd try both and see how it drives.
