Almost every household has a games console or gaming PC of some description these days – and anyone with children will be familiar with the incessant requests for new games around Christmas. Mario Kart 8 (Nintendo Wii U) - £35
Most people have experienced a Mario Kart game at some point in their life – and it probably left an impression. The frenetic, exciting gameplay is huge fun whether in single or multiplayer – but knocking your friend out of first place just before the finish line with a well-aimed weapon is sure to lead to a fight.
The current edition came out in 2014, but it’s still popular and fun. New features include an ‘anti-gravity’ mode with some mind-boggling tracks that defy physics, plus there are dozens of characters and karts from various different Nintendo games including Link from the Legend of Zelda and, of course, the characters from Super Mario history.
