Jaguar XJR-9

With its striking spoiler, faired in wheels and distinctive Silk Cut paintwork the Jaguar XJR-9 is one of the more easily recognisable endurance racers of the 1980s. It was victorious in the Le Mans 24 hour race in 1988, when five examples were fielded by Jaguar.

Power comes from a 7.0-litre V12 which produces 861PS. Back in the 1980s there was no chicane on the Mulsanne straight at Circuit de la Sarthe, so cars with this much power could reach more than 240mph and would stay at flat-out speed for almost a minute.
