Jaguar D-Type
The beautiful curves of the D-Type are unmistakable and are a regular and welcome appearance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Produced between 1954 and 1957, the D-Type uses many components from the earlier C-Type including its six-cylinder inline engine, but it has a radically reworked chassis and improved aerodynamics.
The D-Type spawned a road going car called the XKSS, which had a passenger seat, a second door and a proper windscreen, along with a roof that could be raised and lowered. Less than 20 were constructed. One famous owner was Steve McQueen, whose car is still around today.
